Fertile Days Calendar: How to Use It?

Calendario de días fértiles

- fertile day's calendar is a tool that allows you to calculate your ovulation day and, therefore, increases your chances of achieving pregnancy. Here's how to use it.

How do I calculate my fertile days?

Identifying the ovulation day using a fertile day's calendar is straightforward. To do this, you need to know the date of your last menstrual period and determine if your cycle is regular or irregular. You can determine this by observing the duration of your menstrual cycle. Based on this information, you can proceed with the calculation.

  • Regular cycle: In a regular cycle, ovulation usually occurs in the middle of the cycle. You can calculate it as follows: If your menstrual cycle is 28 or 30 days long, subtract 18 from the shorter cycle (28-18=10) and subtract 11 from the longer cycle (30-11=19). This means that between days 10 and 19 of your menstrual cycle, you are most fertile.

  • Irregular cycle: If your cycle is irregular, the calculation becomes a bit more complicated because the cycle length varies each month. However, don't worry. To calculate your ovulation days, we recommend keeping a record of your cycles throughout the year. You can use the same formula mentioned above. If your shortest cycle is 26 days and the longest is 35 days, subtract 18 from the shorter cycle (26-18=8) and subtract 11 from the longer cycle (35-11=24). In this case, your ovulation will occur between day 9 and day 24 of your cycle.

Currently, some apps can help you automatically calculate your ovulation day. You simply enter the first day of your last menstrual period, and the app will show you an estimate of the most and least fertile days in your cycle.

How do I know if I'm ovulating?

Some symptoms can help you identify if you are on your ovulation day. Some of them are:

  • Changes in vaginal discharge
  • Abdominal pain
  • Mood swings
  • Increased libido
  • Acne

However, it's important to mention that these signs don't occur in all women, so observing the fertile day's calendar offers a more accurate method.

How long does ovulation last?

Ovulation only lasts for 12 to 24 hours. This is the time when an egg is available for fertilization. However, the fertile day's calendar will give you an approximate range of days when it could occur. For women with menstrual cycles of 28 to 32 days, ovulation can occur between days 11 and 21, but it will only happen on one of these days. The days before and after ovulation also have a high probability of fertility.
